Member fight for transparency reveals stunning 14% citywide vacancy rate ๐Ÿ“ˆ

City administrative incompetence threatens our members in the library and public works departments who face double digit  vacancy rates. Vacancies mean that workers are forced to increase their productivity. We only know about this because earlier this year members spoke out during Council Budget Committee hearings and demanded transparency.

City Council awards the City Manager with a 28% raise!

Just as vacancies hit astronomic levels, Dee Williams-Ridley’s salary increased by $84,732 to $386,160 per year! That’s a 10-1 pay ratio as compared to our lowest paid Recreation workers making $19 an hour.

Her labor accomplishments include “controlling labor costs” during the pandemic, record inflation, and our bargaining cycle. She also succeeded in not implementing many provisions of our contract.

Meanwhile, our members scrape by with a 3% COLA, no hero pay, and are poorer amidst hyper inflation
